We had hoped to leave today, but when I went to get the oil changed they couldn’t get the oil plug back in tight. WARNING: This is the second time Walmart in the States (where our last oil change was done) stripped the threads on our oil tank. The local shop was really helpful & went out of their way to get it re-threaded & road-ready. Only 300 pesos ($30) for the oil change & the fixing of the tank, which took a lot longer than what I explained here. (that’s for 8 qts of oil & filter & a couple of tacos & trip to town & back (30 mi). So, God willing, we will be back home tomorrow afternoon.

Sam went out & distributed some donated food from a local grocery store to a neighborhood they help here weekly. Pics coming soon. We also passed on some clothes to the neighbors here. In this part of town you’ll have a mansion & a shack right next to each other.

Update Mexico!

Well, something didn’t agree with me. It could be the water, the tacos, salsa, carne asada, or any number of things, but I’ve had some tummy issues the last couple of days. That & the heat has made me pretty tired, but I still managed to visit some of our friends and supporters in town, as well as take the kids out for donated bowling & for pizza (birthday celebration). Yesterday I put up a frame for a wall at the center, & also was able to get some dental work done. All in all it’s been a nice trip. Everyone at the center is very thankful we can bring down what we can & help in whatever way we can. It’s a huge property & house, so Sam and Steve stay pretty busy helping out, which is also much appreciated by all!

In the beginning…

How does one go about starting a blog? What words do you start with? When you have lots of past info you want to share, where do you start? Well, at the beginning! & the beginning is right NOW! Hopefully we’ll add some categories of past events to bring you up to speed with what we’ve BEEN doing. but for now we will start with TODAY (well, maybe this past week). So here we go with the BEGINNING…

Mark & the kidz made a trip down to Monterrey, Mexico earlier this week. They were able to bring a fair amount of clothing down to help the missionary families. These clothes are all in very good condition, some new, some slightly used, but all VERY appreciated by the missionaries across the border!

Another reason for the trip was to help Sam get his baggage down to Mexico. He has officially returned to the foreign mission field & is making his way down to Mexico City where he will be getting some professional instruction as a studio technician. So, basically, a good portion of the truck was devoted to guitars, amps, computer & recording equipment. During the year he spent in the States he was able to raise funds to buy most of the equipment he needs to get started in his music/production ministries. THANKS to all at the RV park that hired him for yardwork, etc. & who donated to helped make this possible. He is very excited about this ministry & we hope to post some of his music here in the future.

We also are helping with some improvements at the center we’re staying at & anything else that we can lend a hand with. And the kidz will be enjoying old friends they left behind in Mexico!

A special thanks to Jerry & Christa for their donation towards the gas. Gifts like these make these trips possible & really help the mission field! Thank the Lord diesel is half the price in Mexico! So this will go twice as far! Paying less than $2.50/gallon in MX. Well, there you have the BEGINNING! We’ll keep you posted as things happen! Bye for now!
